Which sports should I wear one for?
The Australian Dental Association recommends a mouthguard for any sport with a risk of contact to the face. That includes footy, rugby, hockey, basketball, netball, soccer, boxing, martial arts, and even skateboarding or BMX where a fall onto a hard surface is likely.
Are mouthguards only for kids?
Not at all. A knock to the mouth does just as much damage to an adult — and adult teeth don’t grow back. Anyone playing a contact or collision sport, at any age, benefits from a properly fitted guard.
My child's teeth are still growing — is it worth it?
Yes. Protecting developing teeth is exactly when it matters most. Because a child’s mouth changes as they grow, we’ll let you know when a guard no longer fits well and is due to be remade, so the protection stays reliable through each season.
Can I wear a mouthguard with braces?
Absolutely — and it’s especially important with braces, since a knock can drive brackets and wires into your lips and cheeks. We can make a guard designed to fit comfortably over orthodontic work and allow for the movement of your teeth.
Will it make it hard to breathe or talk?
